Cambridge Mill condo and hotel towers inch closer to reality

Pearle Hospitality has submitted a minor variance to the city to increase the height of the towers for rooftop mechanical equipment

Pearle Hospitality says it won't break ground on its Cambridge Mill condo tower and hotel this summer, but work is moving along to make the landmark development a reality.

Under the banner Cambridge Development Inc., the company recently submitted a minor variance application to the city to increase the height of the hotel and residence by 1.2m and .8m respectively to allow for the rooftop mechanical equipment.

The variance, coming to the city's committee of adjustment next month, will allow the company to construct a penthouse on each tower.

In an email, project planner Mackenzie Meek said the company is still working through approval processes and does not expect to break ground this summer.

Cambridge council approved the project in 2021.

Once constructed, the Cambridge Mill project will feature a 146-suite hotel and 250-unit condo tower with more than 20,000 square feet of retail space, restaurant, and spa.
